You shoved your hands in the pockets of your army green coat, feeling a bit tipsy leaving the bar. You were only leaving now due to the overwhelming guilt clouding your mind. Your thoughts were interrupted by the familiar ring of your phone. You reached deeper into your pocket to find a picture of Bucky mid-blink, with a goofy smile across his face. Your expression softened for a moment, but you quickly pushed the red button and thrust the phone back into your pocket.
You could imagine the conversation that would take place as you reached the small studio apartment in downtown Brooklyn. It's not like this is the first time you'd had it.
You were nearing the suite, clutching the keys between your knuckles. You found your way to the front door and reluctantly pushed the key into the lock and turned it. You casually walked into the apartment, blocking out the worried calls of your name, and shut yourself in your room, locking the cream colored door behind you.
"(Y/n), please..." Bucky said, worry taking a toll on his voice. You dug your face into your pillow, trying to drown out his concerned pleas.
After a few minutes there was complete silence. It stayed like that for what seemed like forever.
"Buck...I-I did it again..." You muttered softly. You could practically hear him perk up at the sound of your voice.
"I...I know (Y/n)." He said gently. You tore yourself away from the warmth of your bed and to the door, which unlocked with a click. He burst through the door without wasting a moment, engulfing you in a hug. You nuzzled your nose into his chest as he gave you a reassuring squeeze.
"Shh..." he interrupted. "Don't be."
"But I can't do this anymore Buck! It's...it's changing me!" You erupted, pulling away from him. He looked at you with those blue puppy eyes of his.
For the first time in years, the Winter Soldier had no words. He held you in his arms as your tears streamed down the white t-shirt he was wearing. You muttered barely comprehensive apologies and he ran his fingers through your hair to calm you down. This went on for a couple minutes, until you were finally tranquil enough to speak properly.
"I won't let you ever do this again alright?" Bucky said softly, not wanting to stir you.
"Please don't..." He released you from his arms to look at your beautiful, e/c eyes again. He laid a tender, gentle kiss on your temple.
"Get some rest, Y/n." He walked you over to your room and laid you down, tucking you in. He rubbed your shoulder one last time before turning off the lights and climbing next to you, cradling your body.
